What happens to a Ladbrokes bet if the match is postponed or abandoned?
Short answer
Ladbrokes uses a same-day rule. A postponed match voids bets unless it is only delayed and still played the same day, local time. An abandoned match voids bets unless the outcome of your bet was already decided. From Ladbrokes' football rules, checked 19 Oct 2026.
Postponed or cancelled match: bets struck before the scheduled kick-off are void, unless the match is only delayed and takes place the same day (local time at the venue). Fixed-date tournament finals such as the World Cup Finals stand for the new date. Abandoned before the end of regular play: bets are void, even if the governing body lets the result stand, except bets already decided, such as a first goalscorer who has already scored. A suspended match that restarts and finishes the same day stands. In multiples, a void selection is treated as a non-runner and the rest of the bet stands.

How often this rule matters
How often fixtures move
- 6%
- of league matches in England and Scotland were rearranged684 of 11,320 matches in the Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two and Scottish Premiership, 2021-22 to 2025-26
- 12%
- of matches in January matchweeks were rearranged, the highest monthFebruary: 12%. August: 1%. Same five leagues.
Rearranged means played 10 or more days away from the rest of its matchweek. Some moves are announced weeks ahead for cup ties or TV, so not every one would void a bet placed later.
On 17 Oct 2026, League One had 9 matches and League Two had 2 matches listed as postponed and waiting for a new date.

Postponed or cancelled matches
- Bets placed before the scheduled kick-off are void, unless the match is delayed before kick-off and takes place on the same day (local time at the venue).
- Matches on a fixed date in tournament finals, such as the World Cup Finals or European Championship Finals, stand for the new date. Qualifiers do not get this exception.
Abandoned matches
- A match abandoned before the end of regular play is void, even if the governing body lets the result stand.
- Bets already decided stand. Ladbrokes' example: if a named player has already scored the first goal, First Goalscorer and Time of First Goal bets are settled.
Suspended matches
- If play is suspended and the match restarts and finishes the same day, all bets stand as normal.
- If it doesn't finish the same day, undecided bets are void, even if the rest of the match is played later.
