What happens to a William Hill bet if the match is postponed or abandoned?

Short answer

48-hour windowHouse rule or limit

If a match is postponed, William Hill voids the bet unless the match is rescheduled and kicks off within 48 hours of the original kick-off. If a match is abandoned, bets stand where the result of that market was already decided, and are void otherwise. From William Hill's General Football Rules, checked 17 Oct 2026.

Postponed match: bets void at the point of notification, unless the fixture is rescheduled and kicks off within 48 hours of the original kick-off. In a multiple the void leg is removed and the rest stands (a treble becomes a double). Abandoned: bets stand where a winning selection was already established, otherwise void.

William Hill abandoned matches, explained

What happens to a William Hill bet if the match is postponed or abandoned?
What is abandoned matches?
If a match is abandoned or postponed, each bookmaker applies its own house rule. Markets already decided usually stand, and the rest are void. The key difference is the time window. A postponed match may still count if it is played the same day, within 48 hours, or within a few days, depending on the bookmaker.
Do I get my stake back if a match is postponed?
Usually yes, if the match is not played within the bookmaker's window. In an acca the void leg is removed and the rest runs on.
