Which bookmakers move your bet to the substitute?
Short answer
8 of the 10 UK bookmakers we cover move a player bet to the substitute if your player is taken off: bet365 (Sub On Play On), Sky Bet and Paddy Power (Super Sub), William Hill and 888sport (Impact Sub), Betfred (Sub Switch), BoyleSports (Sub Swap) and Unibet (Power Sub, anytime goalscorer only). Ladbrokes and Coral don't offer one. It only applies to markets showing the bookmaker's icon. Extra time counts only at bet365, and at Sky Bet on its 120 Minute Payout markets. A red card is not a substitution: William Hill says the bet loses, and the others don't say (each bookmaker's own terms, checked 27 Oct 2026).

How a substitute transfer works
The offers have different names but the same core rule. You back a player in a qualifying market, such as anytime goalscorer, shots on target or to be carded. If he is substituted before your bet is decided, the bet moves to the player who comes on, at the same odds. At bet365, William Hill and 888sport, anything your first player already did still counts: one goal from him plus one from his replacement wins a 2 or more goals bet. If the bet was already won or lost before the substitution, nothing changes. Only markets showing the bookmaker's icon qualify, so check the market and your bet slip before you place the bet.
A red card is not a substitution
A player who is sent off is not replaced, so there is no one for the bet to move to. William Hill is the only bookmaker we cover that says what happens: the Impact Sub bet loses, and the same applies if a player goes off injured when his team has no substitutes left. bet365, Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 888sport, Betfred, BoyleSports and Unibet describe substitutions only and say nothing about sending offs, so we don't assume the bet moves. Extra time in cup matches
bet365's Sub On Play On now runs into extra time on qualifying matches, and a bet that hasn't won after 90 minutes can still win in extra time at the same odds. Sky Bet's Super Sub applies to extra time only on its 120 Minute Payout markets. Paddy Power, William Hill, 888sport, BoyleSports and Unibet stop at 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Betfred's current Sub Switch terms exclude penalty shootouts but don't mention extra time; its World Cup launch post in June 2026 said extra time counted. No bookmaker we cover counts a penalty shootout.
Bookmakers without one
Ladbrokes and Coral had no substitute offer on their promotions pages on 27 Oct 2026, and nothing in their football rules moves a bet to the substitute. A player bet there is settled under the normal football rules. Unibet's Power Sub is the narrowest of the eight: pre-match Anytime Goalscorer only, the player must start, and the direct replacement must score.
