Premier League betting rules: how UK bookmakers settle your bets
Short answer
Standard Premier League bets settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time. The rules that change the result most often are early payout (2 Up), what happens when a match is postponed, and own goals in goalscorer bets. Each bookmaker sets its own version, so check the table below.

The rules that matter in the Premier League
90 minutes and stoppage time
Match result, both teams to score and most other markets settle on the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. A late goal in added time counts.

Some bookmakers settle a pre-match match result bet as a winner if your team goes 2 goals ahead at any point, even if the lead goes. Eligible markets and competitions vary.

If a match is postponed, most bookmakers void the bet unless it is played within a set window. In an acca, that leg usually drops out and the rest runs on.

Own goals do not count for goalscorer bets at the bookmakers we could confirm. If the first goal is an own goal, some settle first goalscorer bets on the next goal.

How often this rule matters
How often these rules come into play in the Premier League
- 8%
- of the time a team went 2 goals up in the Premier League, it did not win56 of 688 times: 38 draws and 18 defeats. In those matches, an early payout (2 Up) offer would already have settled a match result bet on that team as a winner.
- 20%
- of Premier League matches had a goal in second-half stoppage time275 of 1,393 matches. Stoppage time is part of the 90 minutes, so those goals count for standard bets.
- 3.6%
- of Premier League goals were own goals145 of 4,042 goals. None of them count for goalscorer bets at the bookmakers we confirmed.
- 4%
- of Premier League matches were rearranged74 of 1,900 matches. Highest in 2021-22 (10%), lowest in 2025-26 (0.5%).
